The lessons of the crisis in the USA

Post new topic

Loïc

Hello everyone,

While there is still a certain amount of uncertainty in our lives, the situation seems to be beginning to change in the USA and globally.
We have had to show courage, tenacity and even ingenuity in many areas, in the way we work, in being alone or with our families, in how we look after our children, or we channel our stress and emotions in the face of this health crisis that has turned our daily lives upside down.
We wanted to hear your feedback on these last few months in the USA.

What will you remember from this very special period?

Have these unusual times allowed you discover things about yourselves or your loved ones?

Did this period lead you to make changes in your lifestyle that you would like to maintain in the future? If so, which ones?

How do you plan for the future in the USA? Have the last few weeks caused you to review your priorities or certain projects?

Thank you for your contribution and take care of yourself,

Loïc

One of the biggest lessons is how idiots have gained a platform by  using misinformation combined with panic to spread extremely stupid and/or dangerous ideas. I don't know how far the 5G conspiracy rubbish went in the US, but drinking bleach seems to thing for some in that country.
Darwin might well be dead, but his theory lives on ... even if some very foolish people are less than likely to.

Coronavirus: Americans drinking and inhaling bleach to try to prevent COVID-19 infections - study
Some 4% of those surveyed said they had drunk or gargled bleach solutions, and 18% used household cleaning products on their skin.

The sample size is really far too small to get a real picture, but the fact anyone gargles bleach or puts the stuff on their food is seriously shocking.

Of the 502 adults surveyed, 19% said they had put bleach on food, including fruit and vegetables, while 18% admitted using household cleaning and disinfectant products on their hands or skin.

Some 4% had drank or gargled bleach solutions, soapy water or disinfectants, 6% had inhaled vapours from household cleaners or disinfectants, and 10% said they had misted their body with a cleaning or disinfectant spray.

Then there are the folks who give the most outrageous answers possible to poll takers.

Used to?

Enough cat food, wine and Netflix and all is well.
On a serious note - we did our quarterly stocking up the week before the shut downs, SO is now also teleworking. Longer hours for both of us and our whiskered office assistants.
