Hi Everyone,
I’m posting here to get more relevant answers regarding Indian immigration.
I’m indian married and my wife also an indian. We married in india. Currently I’m working in brazil with work visa and we got our baby boy here in Brazil. Since we have to travel to india for a vacation or may be end of work allocation.
Here in brazil we have by birth nationality. I want to understand this point here regarding to get the passport.
1. I have connected with indian embassy and they told be I can get either indian or Brazilian passport plus OCI for my kid but they didn’t get MUCH information regarding my doubts.
2. If I’m applying indian passport I have to register the birth of baby to MHA. In this case will he loose residency of brazil ? That’s means how he will stay with us in brazil ? We need to apply a visa here ?
3. If I’m getting BRAZILIAN PASSPORT plus OCI, what are the benefits he or as whole we can get ?
4. Once we are in Índia can we change OCI to indian passport and leave/surrender Brazilian passport to Brazilian Embassy ? In this case will his residency will be valid in Brazil. When I say residency means his local ID card of brazil.

Thanks everyone for wonderful support in this expat forum and hope I will get my doubts clear.

Thanks 😊

Hi Meet Me India,

I read your message and you have alot of very valid concerns and queries.  However, I noticed within one month no one has responded to you.  Well I can certainly offer you some guidance.

I live in Gurgaon and am an expat.  My work visa was terminated suddenly and I needed my visa converted to a spouse visa in a hurry.  The company I used GIS, really helped me.  They were thorough, assuring and got me the visa conversion pretty quickly, considering how backlogged the situation is with COVID.

I suggest you WhatsApp them a message and ask them for some guidance.  I am pretty sure they can give you advice on what route to take with your baby, as far as OCI or where to register his nationality.

WhatsApp ***.  If you don't get a reply let me know and I will connect them to you directly.  ***

Take care
