Dear all,

I plan on moving to Mauritius on a Retirement Permit but obviously the stupid Covid messed things up.  I need your advise on one technicality please.

-I already got Bank Account in Mauritius.
-already paid the required moneys into that account ...
-already registered online at EDB  ( https://business.edbmauritius.org/ ) and filled in all required information + uploaded required files.

So, with Covid-19 and the unknown future as to when Mauritius will open its borders again, I am wondering if it would be wise to submit my online (EDB) application NOW....bearing in mind that once it is approved online, you have 90 days to do the Medical and get the  "Certificate of Character" from local Police in Mauritius itself.

Question:
What I am getting at is:  If my online application is approved and I don't get to Mauritius within 90 Days, what will happen then  ?  Can I just re-apply or will I be disqualified from applying again for a certain time period?

I appreciate your time.

Kind Regards
Pieter

I think you the situation can be well managed since its a global issue

first of all the borders are likely to be open in between 4 weeks - lets say by September according to the recent update on border reopening but, should your application is approved and within the specific time frame you are yet to fly in, then you can make a request stating the reason which is obvious and they should be able to grand you an additional time frame before the borders of officially open

I think this information should help you remain calm

thanks,

I spoke to EDB yesterday and they confirmed that because of Covid, the 90 days countdown will only start from when Mauritius will be accessible for tourism again.

They also advised that I should rather wait till mid/end September -and then first call and confirm with them to see if the new rules has come into affect. Apparently the more relaxed rules will come in affect round about mid September 2020.

They also confirm that before submitting your online application, you MUST have a police clearance from the police in the country where you are a citizen (10 years clearance) attached to your application.

Take care
