Expatriation to Poland: border updates

Post new topic

Cheryl

Hello everyone,

in Poland as elsewhere, the current pandemic has changed our way of life but also our mobility, due to the state of borders of nearby countries or countries we wanted to visit.

Today we would like to take stock of the current border situation in Poland and collect your testimonies, whether you are already an expat there or still preparing your move.

Is the country currently accessible to newcomers?

Have quarantine measures been put in place? If so, what are they?

What about leaving the territory as an expat resident? Will you be able to easily reach Poland if you leave it temporarily?

How does the current borders state impact you, whether you are already an expatriate in Poland or are planning to move there soon?

Do you have some visibility about the future of borders in your country of expatriation, in the longer or shorter term?

Thank you in advance for your contribution :)

Hello,

I'm an American living in Warsaw with a Schengen work visa. It's my 24th month here.  I'm returning to the States because I don't want to have another lockdown here.  Being unable to return to your own country gets very uncomfortable.

Since I'm flying in from the EU, there are only certain cities I can land in.  There are no direct flights to my hometown from Poland. So I'm flying home to the east coast with a connection in Germany.

One of my flights was cancelled without explanation.  Since I'm traveling with my dog that's a huge hassle.  It'll now take us over 18 hours to travel back to the east coast, which is double the usual time.

As it stands now, I will NOT be able to return to Poland from America, under the present travel rules.

If you are in the EU but not an EU citizen, once you leave the EU, prepare to be gone a long time.

It'll depend where you go and what is happening there.  Keep up with the rules, as they change very often.
