Hey all I'm 20 years old and I am currently living in Dublin for a year on a work placement for University in England and I've yet to meet any friends. I am very easy going and like to have a good drink I also enjoy most sports and general socialising. I would love to meet lots of new people as I am feeling pretty lonely at the minute therefore I'm wondering if anyone could give me any advice or anyone who wants to make friends :D

Hi all,
You can also check out newandnotsonewindublin.com (part of meetup.com). It's a great way to meet people from everywhere in the world and discover great places in and around Dublin.
Good luck to all and I'll maybe see you at one of the events.

Hello,

You can also create a new topic on the Dublin forum to organize an Expat.com meet up. ;)

Hi,
I'm in Dublin since December and like all of you, I would like to meet new people and make friends. I'm french and I also would like to improve my level of English. You can see my mail adress on my profile and send me a mail if someone is interested to have a drink someday with my girlfriend and I.

Thanks, bye,

Hi !
I'm new on this forum and I just begin to "control" sending messages!
(First, I'm sorry for my english..)

I am french and I'm in Dublin since September 2011.
I've followed my boyfriend which doing a year of studies here, I am looking desperately for a job ..
I confess that the first few weeks, I have visited more Dublin than looked for work.
But since 2 or 3 months, I really want to find a job here.
Unfortunately, I find nothing. I have a complete formation in hairdressing, but a "fluent English" is essential (which is not my situation).
So I come here, to see if some of you have other plans for a job anywhere in anything in Dublin. I'm here until June and I don't care what kind of job I will do if I can speak English... (part-time/full-time/contract...etc)

Thank you for your answers!

magz12

its not sad here im just finding it hard to meet new girlfriends here since my school mates went of to college and met there own new friends and i went of to work instead of going to college. :)

I am a bit 'shy' but I have never had issue meeting people.  Start with your interests:  sewing, fencing, writing, photography etc.

There are groups/organizations around town; get involved.  You'll be engaged in something you enjoy with people who share a similar interest.

For me, it takes some time to warm up to strangers and this allows me to meet people at my own pace in a comfortable setting.

So shy than that ? ^^

Feel free to drop any ideas or suggestions then we'll be able to mind about any schedules ^^
