I'm considering moving to Athens in September, which I have been contemplating for a while now. But before I book that one way ticket, I'd wanna know what you guys think: with the situation being what it is, am I crazy to want to live there? I have a few leads on possible jobs, but nothing for sure yet. I lived in Athens a few years ago for a year of studies, and love the place. I wanna make the move but need some "grass root" information instead of the tabloid bs I see of the situation here. Thanks guys!!!

Hi

What areas of work are you looking for? From what i can see and the people that i know, there is work for Greek/ English speaking people across a bredth of areas. Most people are looking for graduates of some description. Although, I know several people that will employ bar staff etc. As I was also thinking of doing some extra work over the winter in a friends bar. Most of the casual employment is cash from what I can gather.

I wish you luck in your search and if you are around in September please drop me a line.

Cheers

Hi Adam,

Thanks for a quick reply! I'm graduating as a Bachelor of Hospitality Management this August, and have 8 years of experience in working in bars and clubs. So hopefully will find something :) Will drop you a line when I get there, could go for coffee or something?

Enjoy the sun,

Janet

Kalispera,

Well, if you only take care of what is said in the news, then there is nowhere to be safe. But since I'm here, I found Greece and Athens very safe. The incidents you probably saw on TV are predictable and located on a small (but central) spot of Athens, and thus, can be easily avoided. If I were you, I will come without hesitation, Greece is so much more than that!

Geia!

Hey,

I have arrived in Athens! Loving the weather, the job hunt not so much... but wish me luck and let me know if you wanna grab a coffee some time!
