I was wondering if there is anyone else on the MM2H visa who managed to open a trading account in Malaysia?

I was looking at Rakuten Trade myself, but it only seems to allow identity card holders. Any recommendations for other platforms out there that allow foreigners?

I'm just looking for something to buy and hold (trackers/etf's), with the lowest fees possible.

Nobody replied, but in case anyone is searching Interactive Brokers seemed to be my best choice.

I was wondering myself. Ive never bought any stock in Malaysia and assumed it would not be so easy for a foreigner, similar to a bank account. Did they open an account for you and whats the criteria?

It wasn't difficult, just some basic questions (residency permit, identity, utility bills, bank account that kind of stuff).

And I think minimum deposit was 5k but not 100% sure.

You can open an account with Hong Leong bank with basic documents as Passport and Valid Visa . No extra charges at all.
