Shipping From USA to Sao Paulo

Hello
What is the best way to ship items from the USA to Brazil and vise versa? I was thinking about shipping myself some items I can't get in Brazil from the USA for instance from Amazon Prime. I would send it to my mail service based in the USA to myself.

For things you buy from Amazon, it's best to have Amazon ship them to your Brazilian address.  They charge your credit card for the tariffs and taxes upfront and refund any overpayment to your card, so items come directly to your home, and are tracked all the way.

For items from other sellers, having them sent to your mail forwarder is a good idea.  If they operate like mine (US Global Mail), they will prepare the Customs documentation, and offer you a selection of shippers, at a discount over retail rates.  DHL is a good choice for Brazil, because their reach seems to be the greatest.  I do not believe that they will take care of the actual Customs payment, though, so your package may be held up until you work that out with the shipper at the Brazil end.

The combination of tariffs and taxes (mostly VAT) on imports can easily total 100% or more of the purchase price, so make sure that whatever you import is something that you really can't get here, have to have, and can't bring back with you from a visit, or have a visitor bring along in their luggage.

For shipments to the US, DHL is the best option I've found.
