I have used a company in Sofia for the last five years.   I have shipped three cars and three containers of goods.   Orbit   Plamen@ +1 359  89 555 9912 has offered great service and good pricing.

You must have a detailed inventory processed by a qualified shipper from your home area.   While it seems unreasonable to me they like to see detail.  Not "Eating utensils" but "11 Knives, 6 spoons and 8 forks made of stainless steel used household and personal property!"

You cannot ship anything that is new or you will pay VAT plus tax, import fees etc.   approaching about 30%     It is worthwhile to get an appraisal from your shipper.  So, Nothing new no guns, drugs, prescription medicines, liquor, meat, cheese etc.   Be sure to have a copy of the inventory with you when the shipment arrives as customs will ask for it.   It is not acceptable to say "I gave it to my shipper!"

If you ship prescription medicine you will pay import duties and you must have the original prescription from the Doctor.   Cheaper to buy the medicine in Bulgaria.   Do not play any games with customs as they can make your life miserable.   Use a qualified shipper and do not expect them to tell you what you need.   They assume you have looked up all the rules.

Having said this, Plamen has done a good job for me.

One more thing,  Be sure to specify if you have a specific port.   I did not one time and a vehicle was sent to Varna and not Burgas where I live.  I assumed that since I said I lived in Burgas that it would be shipped to Burgas.   Not so as Varna is the first drop off port.  The cost was extra to go through a intermediate port.

I now understand that you can ship to Amsterdam and truck to Sofia cheaper than sea freight.   Ask a lot of questions.  Assume nothing.   Be sure to specify if you will pick up at the port or if you want your agent to process at customs (the best way) and deliver to your door.   If you try to do the customs yourself it can take several days of frustration.

I have used Orbit Logistics Headquartered in Sofia to move three containers over the last 5 years.  They offer complete services including customs processing delivering and unpacking.   You might check about shipping requirements as UK is no longer in the EU.   I shipped from US.   The shipper mush be the original shipper and have a complete inventory box by box.   If you have any new items I would take them out of the original wrapping and rewrap them as 'used."

My contact is Plamen  Borisov    +359 89 5559912    pboroisov@orbitbg   If you talk with him please pass along  our hello from John and Desi St Vlas.

You can be absolutely open about what you plan to ship and he will advise you how to have the cheapest shipping and smoothest and least expensive customs processing.   Be aware if you ship liquor, prescription drugs or forearms without the proper approvals in advance your entire shipment will be confiscated.  Customs is guaranteed to open a few boxes to check.  if the inventory matches your goods will be passed through with no issues.
