Hi,
I have to send my PR card to the KVR office in Munich by post.
I have never sent a post in Germany.
My questions are:
1. Where can I buy the envelope for the letter
2. Should the handwrite the receiver's address or print it
3. Where exactly to I need to drop the post so that it will be send
4. As my post contains my ID, which would be the best postal service to use

Feel free to suggest me something to get over the pain points.
Also, It would be great if someone can summarize the whole process.

One can buy envelopes in many shops. There are small stationary shops that sell paper and envelopes and such things. Or there are large shops that sell many types of items including such things like Müller, Kaufland etc. Usually standard envelopes come in packages of say 50 or 100 rather than individually. Not expensive so one can have a supply for future needs. One can buy stamps at a post office. They also have machines at the post office where one can buy individual stamps without having to wait in line.

A standard business envelope with up to 20 grams costs 80 cents. Up to 50 grams cost 95 cents and for a heavier one up to 500 grams or a larger format, it cost 1,55 euros.

But since you are sending important documents, it is very recommended to send it by registered mail (Einschreibung) which costs just a few euros in addition. The person receiving the letter has to sign for it  and it can be traced so there is proof it was sent, proof if it arrives and if it gets lost on the way they have some chance of tracking it.  To do this you will have to wait and have it done at the counter at the post office.

If you use the counter, they will simply take the letter once you have paid. If not using a counter, you put the stamped envelope in one of the yellow post-boxes. They can also be found in various places other than at the post office, usually in  central locations where a lot of people pass.

Be careful that the German Post is now privatized and there are actually alternative post systems in some regions like Baden-Württemberg. You don't want to buy a normal stamp and put the envelope in a BW Post mail-box. I'm not sure where people get stamps for such systems, maybe special shops an/or online. One would usually not bother unless they are sending lots of letters meaning even a few cents savings would add up.

Thanks for the super response.

Should I write the address on the post myself or will they print a sticker & stick it on top?
The money will be paid at the counter. right?

You have to write the address on the envelope (and also your address in case of return).
Did you never before in your life send a letter?

sorry, I feel stupid. I do have experience in sending posts but not in Germany. I started this forum chain just to be sure.

I forgot to mention that all sorts of envelopes, boxes  and paper can also be purchased at most post offices. Larger formats might even be sold singularly in additional to in larger quantities. I usually buy at the shops already mentioned which are generally cheaper. But due to Covid measures, one can expect long, slow lines at the post office that are best avoided if possible. But if you send something registered mail you will have to wait in a queue regardless.
