Acquiring Jordanian nationality

Post new topic

Zayna123

I’m a Canadian woman married to a Jordanian national for ten years. We currently live in Canada and have two daughters— one born in Canada and one in the Middle East. I asked my husband to apply for Jordanian nationality for me and our kids to facilitate us moving back and forth more freely between Canada and the Middle East.

I don’t believe he ever made a family book before, so I’m just wondering if he makes one now if myself and our kids will be immediately eligible for the nationality, or if there’s a waiting period (keeping in mind we’ve already been married ten years and were married in a shariah court in the Middle East)?  Will I need my husband’s consent to leave Jordan if I’m in his family book, and can citizenship be revoked if we divorce?

TIA

Hi
First your husband has to apply, and for a jordanian nationality he has  to have a national number, without that number he can’t do anything. It’s much easier if he is in Jordan, he can get a family book, in the same day he can get passports for the children in one day, provided that the birth certificates are translated into Arabic.
Now you, after adding you in the family book he has to apply for your passport, the first hurdle is to get the CID ( Al Muckabarat) approval , it takes about 6 weeks, once you have that it’s smooth .

And no he can’t stop you leaving, but he can stop the kids leave with you
