Hi,

My husband and I are looking for professional work opportunities in Hong Kong. We both have significant IT Project Management Experience in Canada

Having read through a number of previous posts and guides, I'm interested to hear from anyone having experience working in these sectors. Would love to chat about your experience, opportunities and visas

Thanks!

Hi
ITPM is a pretty standard skill, the answer will depend on your industry and functional skills.

If you have done experience in Financial Services it shouldn't be too difficult to find a job.
If you have worked in domains that are less important in HK (eg, Supply Chain, or Automotive industry...) it will be more challenging.

Work visas for foreigners can only be requested by employers. You will need someone to sponsor you (which, by Covid times, is quite a challenge). The only option is if you are 30 or less, you can apply for a Working Holiday Visa which can help you settle in and work from day 1, without much trouble ahead. More info on this website from the HK government.

Job boards are another smart place to look for employment opportunities in Hong Kong. You can also find tools and guides online that can assist you in writing up a stellar CV that you can use to make yourself stand out against the crowd of other candidates applying for the same positions. And you can set up job alert emails so you never miss an important opportunity.

You can also seek support from recruitment specialists. Recruitment agencies and headhunters might also be helpful in your search. You can visit SVA Recruitment for job vacancies.
