Hail Saudi Arabia

Post new topic

Can someone presently living in Hail please let me know how it is to work and live there? Are basic amenities available? Is health care good? What about shopping and eating outlets? All information appreciated. There is a chance I may get a job there and these inputs will help me make a decision.

Hi Sameer,
I'm new in Hail. I've been here 2 weeks.
All I can say is you can get everything here at Lulu Supermarket and Danube. (of course there are other shops 2 but these are the main ones I visited.
I recommend the Saudi-German hospital.
When it comes to ordering food or eating out, I only ordered from Herfy, KFC and Canton (it is a chinese take away). The chinese was not authentic but the beef was OK.
There are a few large malls like the Grand Mall and others. they are decent.
Depending on where you come from, you might find Hail quiet and less crowded than Riyadh or other cities outside.
There is a bit of tourism to be done around (after Ramadan, I guess).
I saw a team of footballer playing on a pitch one night when my driver was taking me shopping. So if you're into sports, you know there are activities even during the festive time.
Sorry, other than that, I can't tell you much as I have not been out and about much.
I guess if you speak arabic, you can call restaurants and sports clubs with no limitations. Personnaly, I have great difficulties to make myself understood even by the inhouse chef! :-)
In a nutshell, hail is great if you're not looking to move to a big city. And if you come here with a family, there are a few things for women and kids too.
All the best!

Hi Marie,

I forgot to ask about availability of internet and TV entertainment.  Can you also please shed some light on that?  Many thanks
Sameer

Hi Sameer,
No worries on my end. The internet right now (I am running a check on fast.com) is 3.5 MB per second, so good. I actually stream pretty flawlessly. Although if you are gaming, it might be just on the low end.
TVwise, I'm using a satellite, youtube and Netflix.
The one thing that seems to bug since I've been in KSA is phone calls through WhatsApp in the evenings. So I prefer using Telegram or Signal.
I hope this helps.
Speak another time maybe!

Thanks a lot, Marie!
