Walking distance?

In Bali what is considered to be
‘walking distance’ or ‘5 minutes from’

Is it
Driving a Ferrari?
An Olympian athlete running?
On a pushbike?

I’m 200mt from the beach now which is a known figure, so how does it work in Bali?
Is there some kind of benchmark? Or does it all depend on the agent’s gloss.

I’m hunting for a house and know I walk slowly so any help would be great

If you live in an area where floods can be a problem, one question you must ask is if the place floods or not. When you get your answer, ask around the locals - You might well get different answers - I did.

So, in conclusion - Don't believe a bloody word estate agents say until you've checked they aren't liars. The moment you catch one in a lie, blank them immediately because they'll lie again.


U ztll doing the same mistake, if u had a bad experience with a couple of estate agents dont allow u to claim that people dont have to trust estate agents in general, planty of honest estate agents out there.

Given EVERY agent I've contacted has lied. The number advertising on Facebook that lie about locations or whatever, and the number advertising illegal land sales to expats, I tend to assume the rest are liars until they prove otherwise.
A common one here is claiming a location is in the city, then you find out it's really 30 minutes drive away - it sounds very much like the OP's problem.
So far, none I've contacted have managed to show any honesty.

Most were lies about location, some were lies about prices, and some lied about facilities or other points that matter when you're living in a place.
Some lied about the price - Telling me the house way way more expensive than the advertised price - Especially bad when you consider I got their contacts from adverts showing the advertised price.

None managed to tell the truth about everything. The above in mind, I would strongly suggest checking any and every 'fact' you're given.


Im not deniening u was unluky meeting some dishonest agents, Im stating that thats not allow u in every way to claim that EVERY estate agent Is a liar, thats just a personal opinion not supported by evidences and its not usefull at all for the members, I cant state that EVERY estate agent are honest just because the few I meet made a great job for me, because I dont know the thousands of others. Just common sense.

People who work in the property game in bali are under pressure from day 1 ,they may get a salary but if they dont sell within 3 months they are out , many staff ex timeshare hardly the most honest individuals .

Further to that the property here is generally junk , dodgy certificates notaris etc etc ,a bit of a cess pool imho .

The real problem is that some expats tend to take shortcuts to circumvent the laws, not just about properties, but about everything, and some agents are very happy to help them to do that.
in the other hands, the majority of expat want make thongs in the right way, so they inform themselves about the laws, have each document checked by a notary with a good reputation and personally follow every step of the control and acquisition process.

Yeah a risky business for sure property and land  ,and its not just expats , locals play all kinds of nasty games with each other ,I have some local acquaintances ,who work in this dodgy game ,many scary  stories .

Agree, unfortunally still many asian people (not only Indonesian) see foreigner as "waliking ATM".
