Work Permit Approved.

Hey! Based on what is decided whether the area is flanders or brussels?
Is it the office location that determines?
My papers are handled by a 3rd party through my company so they didn’t specify.

Thanks!

I believe so, it will be based on the address of your company.

Congrats. But it is really long wait time.
I am recently planning to move to new job in Flanders. But my application also is taking time. But my notice period is current company is expiring.
Is it possible to request extension of your notice period? otherwise I will sitting ideal for good one  month at least.

layth salah

layth salah

Can you please tell when you received the work permit and which region you're applying from?

layth salah

Can you please share it?

layth salah

Please share if you have any update

Mine are...

Region: Flanders
Application date: Aug 17
Work Permit: received on Oct 20
Residence permit: waiting

You mean in your home country? Yes you can extend till you leave for belgium.

Everyone, my employer told me residence permit part  should now take 3 weeks on avg. some got in a month due to holidays before.

So to be safe let’s stick to the 3-5 weeks on avg.

You should try asking your current employer to extend if they can and your future employer should be aware of the current processing times in Flanders to delay your start date.  Even I am in similar situation, I added a buffer for my notice period but it was still not enough. So now I am unemployed. The company in Belgium had to keep changing the start date, it is a hassle and stressful for everyone but nothing much we can do unfortunately as third country nationals :( . I think it's due to the new systems/processes they could be struggling to complete the backlog.  Anyway, good luck!

No I am in Belgium, Applying to a new job in Belgium. I already have existing WP valid but that is for the Old company. the new company is in flanders. Now Even after waiting for 1month I have no news on my WP and my last date in the old company is coming close.
After reading people feedback it may take me another month to get the new WP. That's why I am thinking if it is possible to get the notice period extension.

I have seen one guy on Facebook with this timeline:
Application: 18th August
Work Permit: 8th November
Single Permit: 19th November

I am a little confused since he applied after me by one  day and got the single permit before me!! Is there anything wrong here?

Same question and only the immigration office can really answer that.
Maybe the Flanders applications are just handled differently or depends on who each application gets assigned to? It's easier for Brussels definitely, they are getting in a matter of days.

it would be best to extend. Ask both employers to make sure there are no legal issues.

He got his work permit much later than you tho. They said it also depends from case to case. Also, this month holidays made an impact as well.

My company is handling the case. I was just informed. They applied in August. They told me that case officer was appointed in 10th Oct. Still my timeline is really long because i've been waiting since August. My residence permit should be handled in 1-2 weeks.

Does Flanders have any plan to reduce the backlog?

Hi,

Any one applied single permit in Brussels region after 12th Oct and received at lease work permit ?

I have applied on 12th Oct and no updates still.is there any mail I’d to contact consulate and check the status ?

Yes, I saw people in this thread who applied for single permit in November and got it. I think the timeline changes case by case and again I think it depends on the person and the company.

gavish121

Anyone has any update on the final single permit approval today?

I was hoping to get mine today, but I don't know if they only send the final single permit in mornings or any part of the day!!
I have entered 33 days since I received the work permit, still waiting for residence permit.

Have you heard anything from your company after the submission of your application? Whether your documents complete or not etc.?

You can send a message for your application using the contact form: https://economy-employment.brussels/contact

However, they don’t share any status in detail. Please let me know if you get any useful information.
