Hi, just want to check if anyone has recently applied /been granted a visa ( family reunification) in german consulate in istanbul? How long does it take these days to get an appointment and getting approved.

Thanks,
Charina

Since FRV applications are processed by the foreigner office ("Ausländerbehörde") of the town in Germany where you intend to live, the consulate is not the determining factor and also cannot tell you how long it will take.
If you want to learn about the extent of inefficiency and ineptitude of German buerocracy, you can try contacting the Ausländeramt. But I recommend you wait patiently and focus on more positive things instead.
Note: In my experience (not from Istanbul and also probably not the same town) it can take anywhere between one and six months. That was before COVID.

Thanks!

**sigh. If that's the case we better stay put. I was thinking if it would be worthit to apply in the UK since we still have residency there.

Let's hope for the best! X
