Moving to Cilegon, Indonesia

Post new topic

Rubhen

Hi Everyone. This is Rubhen here from Malaysia..
Hope all is good..i am writing to seek some advice from you guys..
I will be moving to Indonesia with my family by end of this year for my work in the industrial area in Cilegon, Indonesia.
I’m looking for some information and advice as below :

1. Where is the nearest place available from Cilegon, for expats to stay? Is there any good accommodation with security available nearby ? Any recommended residence ?

2. Through my online research, I found Lippo Karawachi to be a decent place for expats to live with family. Is it practical to travel everyday to Cilegon from karawachi?

3. Is it safe to drive in Indonesia or is it advisable to have a driver? What would the cost be ?

Hope to receive some feedbacks ~~ Thank you. ^^

Hi Rubhen,

As you already know that Cilegon is an industrial area.  There are many foreign companies, therefore there are also many foreigners who work there as well.  Currently there are many housing complexes that are complete with security facilities.  It depends on where your company is.  Regarding driving, to be honest there is prone to accidents, but there are more motorcycle accidents.  Because the road there is not too wide, while the vehicles that pass are more big vehicles such as trucks, etc.  To drive just be more careful about motorcyclists.  Because many are reckless in riding a motorcycle.  Although you are not wrong, but surely the driver of the car is to blame.  So prepare a camera in your car (just a suggestion).  The most important thing is that the area is hot.  Because it is not far from the coast.  So apart from being an industrial area there is also a tourism area.

I didn't mean to hurt you, it's just that you're not too shocked by the situation there.  You will get used to it if you have lived there for a long time.  One more thing if you drive in the hour before going to work and after work, usually there will be traffic jams

This is the little I know about Cilegon City.  Before the pandemic I was going to there often, sometimes I got assignments from the office to handle customers there.  But during this pandemic I have never been there again.  I also have relatives who live in Serang City, Serang City is not so far from Cilegon city.

Hi Mr Rubhen

Here I get an update from my friend who lives in the city of Cilegon.  Some recomendasion for you to stay at there As far as she knows, there are many foreigners in the PCI housing (Pondok Cilegon Indah), the area is called homestay area
But there are other good houses too: Citra Garden BMW, Metro & Grand Cilegon.

Sorry I forgot, about Lippo Karawaci it's actually not too far if you go to Cilegon via the toll road.  But at certain moments there will be a lot of congestion, because the path to get there is the same as the path to the port.  But in my opinion living in Lippo Karawaci is indeed a better area than living in Cilegon.  Because there are many good housing estates & very close to shopping centers & also many good international schools.

In the past, my grandparents lived in BSD, not far from Lippo Karawaci.  When I was young, every weekend I used to go to Lippo Mall Karawaci to watch the fireworks show 😁

Noted Ryan. I will check on the cost and time required to travel on daily basis from Cilegon to Lippo Karawachi. Thank you.  :top:
