I’m retired aged 66 and wish to apply for a non lucrative visa. I’m currently in Spain until mid October with my wife who is from Ukraine She is 53.
Looking for advice as to how we should go about getting residency here in Spain. My wife does not have a visa for UK as we don’t want to live there and we’re only married in May this year. We are looking to initially rent an apartment probably for 12 months in the Estepona area. Any thoughts or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I believe as a non EU nationals you need to start your application with the Spanish consulate in the country where you live.
