Hello danielero209,

Maybe you can tell us more why you asked this question?
Are you looking for a job as a maid?

Thanks,

I've heard locals talk about how they tried 7+ maids before finding one that actually wanted to do the work. I've also seen my local friend slow his car to hollar at a woman walking to the store "where are you going? Are you running away? Why aren't you in the house?" So whether some maids are lazy or use the job as a way out of their home country and then run away from their new employers here there are some strong assumptions about maids' character and whether they'll treat the employer well.

Good service, hopefully, is recognized. But I've heard electricians say they don't like working for Omanis and Omani real estate brokers saying they won't rent to Omanis - both stating that "they don't pay." So the problem is likely more complicated than "maids are lazy" or "Omanis are cheapskates."

America still struggles with racism; Germany with white supremacy; so the more recent abolition of slavery in Oman certainly has some noticeable echoes in the current moment. I know this isn't a definitive answer but hopefully it helps view the situation with some nuance.

If you're looking for work maybe try a hotel? That way you'll at least have coworkers to commiserate with if there's mistreatment.
