If you are not successful with tiny Malta
try Canada
this place is much bigger
even bigger than Nigeria.

Something like 97% of people here are vaccinated. It’s not a happy place for unvaccinated - expensive quarintine, difficult travel and more.

@Julien Hi.

My wife and I live in Mexico. I'm British, she's Mexican but has British nationality also. I'm a permanent resident. Our two kids look as if they're making a life in Europe. One has married a Belgian national, the other has residency in Belgium and works there. So, we're interested in moving to Europe. After Brexit has f'd everything up for us...
We don't have enough net worth to pay a million Euros for a passport. Or half a million for that matter. We are worth enough to be able to buy property, perhaps more than one. I guess my main questions will be:

1. As Malta permanent residents would we get access to the national healthcare system? (Please don't suggest private, it's unaffordable.)
2.  " "                " "                 " "  would we still be limited to a maximum of 90 days / 180 in other Schengen states such as Belgium or Ireland?

You would be seeking residence as TCNs so the two main options are to find a job and then apply or to apply as self sufficient which by the sound of it would not be a problem as you say you have sufficient funds.

Health care as British Citizens can be via the Reciprocal Health Agreement or if you were in receipt of a UK State pension using the S1 form, the only other option is private health cover unless you got a job in which case you would pay Social Security and be covered by Maltese Health System.

Not sure just how you stand with UK NHS though and any arrangements, if you have been living away from the UK a long time and not paying NI.

Look on Identity Malta website for actual requirements for TCN residence, info under expat section.

If successful, I think, your residence is on a yearly basis but after 5 years I believe you can apply for permenant residence.

Good Luck

Just reading you story. You are right Malta is a money place. I have doubt this little country will suit you. Personally, I would recommend Portugal. However, my suggestion is to visit Malta and Portugal first before you make a final decision. As you know seeing is believing. Therefore see these places with your own eyes and have your own judgment about them.

Hi everyone ~ another newbie here!

Malta was our 2nd home growing up, every holiday was in Malta & my parents had lots of friends & family there.

Was lost mum in 2014 (in the UK) so dad decided to move out to Malta, he brought a lovely apartment in St Paul’s Bay and spent 4 happy years there. Sadly 3 weeks ago he passed away in Mater Dei, thankfully we were out there on holiday with our children but it was still a shock.

Anyway, now we are through the minefield of bringing dad home to be buried with mum I now have the fun task (🤪) of moving ARMS & Go over to my name as I am the sole heir to Dad’s estate in Malta and our Notary is sorting everything out (very slowly)

I have so many questions to ask - I will look for the relevant topic threads and will get posting 👋

I know Malta since 1976. You are right in Malta the world is different. What takes 6 months in the USA and  one year in the UK often takes 4 years in Malta. This is a country you have to be patient with. People from outside Malta consider this slow, but the Maltese will say that is our  way. Therefore you have to be patient, but persistent to sort out anything. Good luck.

@Julien i get connected with one agent and he told me that we will provide you open work permit for Malta and all i have to just find employer there. Atlast i thought if I'm able to find jobs there then surely my employer will give me work permit. Then why i need this open work permit and is there any such work permit available....i hope he is making fool of us....

- @rajc401

It appears you were contacted by a scammer. Report this criminal fraudster to the police. For questions regarding a work  permit for Malta contact the High Commission in New Dehli
maltahighcommission.newdehli@gov.mt Tel + 91 11 47674900
By the way how much did you pay for this special agent?
rajc401
I didn't pay anything now bcz I'm all aware of this type of agent but to make sure i raise my question here. Still I'm trying for last 2years to find job in Malta by self prepared gathering information from social media . Still i believe if i find jobs on my own try then it's good otherwise I'm not going to this fake agent. Day to day I'm keep learning about the procedure and find job in some of good sites in Malta... career jet, job sin Malta etc ...

It's advisable not to put personal information on here, we cannot find you work the only  advice is to look at the job section, you are unlikely to get a visa as jobs are offered to locals first then EU citizens before TCN's.

Why not search recruitment agencies on line, you are unlikely to get a visa to come and work here
on a farm, any jobs are offered to local people, EU citizens and then third country nationals.
georgesfeudjio
OK Many thanks, but it is not easy at all to identify the best recruitment agency on line

- @georgesfeudjio

There are very few proper recruitment agencies here,  you will need to find your own job,  without a job offer you will not get a visa as it is the prospective employer who applies and they will not do that when they can employ someone already here!
