moving to Las Terrenas in April and i plan to have my SSA payments continue deposit yo my U.S. bank and access through my ATM CARD

Good idea.  Do not ever have them sent directly to a DR bank. 

But you could open a DR bank account with a US dollar account, get a Schwab account in the US with checking where your SS payments are deposited.  and deposit those checks as needed in the DR.  Their ATM card also refunds fees.

I understand the passport stamp has to be 30 days or less from posters on DR1.

for bank accts is 90 per bhd banker. the rest is mandatory.

30 is for immigration only.

have gone thru it more than a few times since last jan. when we move here.

Almost all banks here require you to be in legal status when you open your account. If you come in on a tourist card it's 30 days. On a residency visa it's 60 days.


With residency or a work visa you can open an account as long as it hasn't expired.


And I understand there are always exceptions because someone's cousin knows someone at the bank.
