one-way ticket to Mauritius

manleydawn
Hi,

we are a South African couple, Dawn and Melville approaching retirement and planning to settle in Mauritius.
We have twice visited the island, our most recent visit being in November 2021.  My son is already working and living in Mauritius and has acquired residency.

Unfortunately, we can only apply for residency once we're there as we have to produce a medical report which has to be done in Mauritius.  How does one explain to  Passport Control at the airport why we only have a one-way ticket.

Any advice from others who have been in this situation?

Hi Manleydawn,

You can book a reservation for a return flight to show at the airport. A reservation can be cancelled....

To be confirmed though... surely members will be able to shed the light on your query.

All the best,

@manleydawn as Anou86 said, just show a reservation. I showed up on a one-way-ticket and had to go online on my phone, make a reservation, show it and went through immigration without any trouble.

@Andrea Lennberg  Hello Andrea, they allowed you in, even if the reserved ticket is only valid for a couple of days max?

Hello Didier,

Your ticket should normally cover the length of your stay ...
