Hi all, Since moving here my kids have become obsessed with animals. They have given me a list but I have no idea where to look for them. They want pretty ones :). This is their list. Here goes. Chickens, ducks, geese, rabbits and turkey. I thought ...

Well I know you can get live chickens at Goodlands market on a saturday morning. They're not sold as pets if you know what I mean... but no reason they couldn't make a good pet. Maybe you could rescue one or two? :) Read More

day use of hotels by butimbusy

Hi, My family and I enjoy visiting the various hotels/resorts on the weekends. Since all beaches are public, most hotels are happy to let us in to use their beach facilities for free, then we can buy lunch or drinks there if we wish. Last ...

It turns out that Citizenship not even an option! by SirRichBranson

Hello, My wife and I have been reading the forum for last few days but we seem to have discovered what for us would be a show-stopper in ever immigrating across to Mauritius. I am a senior ICT professional though even that wont help if we've ...

To be honest I wouldn't even bother thinking about it. If you are moving here with the mindset of moving permanently you are alrdeady jumping the gun. First come here, work, then decide if you want to stay for good. You may change you mind anyway, ... Read More

As Ben says cost makes alternatives almost impossible here. Even in fully developed countries in Europe that have huge economies, the cost of energy is a massive problem that they are struggling to stay on top of. Unfortunately most people here ... Read More

Cost of rental homes in Mauritius by HeyJude

We have lived in the same house in Mauritius for five years; it is a large house with five bedrooms, two bathrooms, two living areas, nice balconies, good size garden with swimming pool and lock up garage. It is an older home with many little ...

It's mainly greed and an attempt to artificially inflate the market. Some expats come over with no perception of the market and end up paying way over the odds for the first place they see, which is what some owners hoping for. The downside for some ... Read More

It's not really anything to do with the expats. Most Mauritians dont really integrate with other ethnic groups in my experience. For example white Franco Mauritians don't interact with anyone else and vice versa. Culturally they seem to be miles ... Read More
