"I just cannot recall ever having voted for Mr. Schwab as one who would have such a great influence on our society and culture. I am not one who fits into the narrative of 'you will.own nothing and be happy'. Somehow that seems to go against human nature."

Klaus Schwab, Yuval Harari et al are not elected leaders, never claimed to be, but think-tank academics whose ideas have ressanance and been syndicated. These movements have traction because world and industry leaders recognize global challenges, and understand they need to coordinate to do something about them.

"You you own nothing and be happy" as a WEF slogan was an effective marketing ploy to evoke awareness (I hope). Unfortunately, Schwab himself looks and sounds like a Bond villain. Having read much of the WEF content (there's a lot) and subscribed to their newsletter, the main theme aims at creating a better world. It's not entirely socialistic, and talks of "public-private partnerships", so property ownership is inherent for some, although consensual shared resources are advocated too . Is communal sharing "against human nature"? Some communities never had a concept of ownership, including of land, but understood they needed to share resources to survive - like the Australian Aboriginals. First century Christian communities sold everything and donated it to the Apostles to live in communities. I'm not advocating this, BTW.

I think what you're talking about is a conspiracy? Are "the elites" planning a take-over, and to control humanity so ubiquitously that the plebeians like us will enter slave-status, or be discarded? I don't want this either, but don't see the evidence of this being intended in the body of their work, and given the human will, and desire for self-determination, don't think this is even possible.

Not all the WEF solutions I agree with, and haven't delved enough to understand much of the technical stuff and legalese. I do think, looking forward at future global solutions, something needs to be done. These forums have attempted to mobilize world leaders enough to come up with a plan. We need a plan, and right now there's no viable counter suggestions. There are some very good elements in their theory and stated goals, please take the time to read them.

I'm way off track, but connecting to the theme of Municipal water, presumably endeavors like these will lead to fairer distribution and access to affordable utilities for most, especially the underprivileged.
