Yippee! I successfully applied for and paid for an eVisa for 90 days, multiple entry. The fee was $25. It's in process and I'll try to update here when it comes through.
I have a December arrival. Oh, and Safari couldn't navigate the ins and outs of the payment process. I copied the url from Safari, where I was stuck unable to click "continue" and pasted it into Google Chrome. Instantly, I was able to proceed. The glitch was that my credit card company wanted to send me a confirmation text AFTER I clicked continue on a pop up box. With Safari, I couldn't scroll down and actually SEE the continue button. No problem on Chrome.
A word to the wise.... Safari ain't always the best browser in these touchy situations. Apple, are you listening? (Probably not!)
@Aidan in HCMC
Thank you so much for your attention to detail and the advice you're giving here on this forum!
I used your link above and got through with a successful application and payment for a 90-day eVisa.
My payment would not go through on Apple's Safari browser. I pasted the url copied from Safari into Google Chrome and it worked the first time. (Apple, are you listening? Probably not.)

Good stuff Lennerd, and of course, you're welcome! Very glad it worked for you!

Valuable info. Thank you for that. I've had similar experiences with Firefox when attempting online banking that were rectified by changing browsers.

Interesting.
Every report I've read so far (no personal experience) has mentioned $25 USD for 90 Days single entry and $50 USD for multiple entry.
Anyway, big High Five! ✋

Hmmmmm. Didn't notice that.
Interesting, indeed.
edit; I just checked the older/original application portal's opening page, here.
"Step 2: Pay E-visa fee (25 USD). Your application will be processed in 3 working days;" . No mention of $50 for multi-entry.
The next page, here(not sure whether this link will work without first checking the box on the previous page confirming "...reading carefully instructions...") , under the heading "Requested information", allows the applicant to choose single or multiple entry where "Grant Evisa valid from" and "To" dates can be up to 90 days (I input Sep1 - Nov30. Sep1 - Dec1 was not permitted, stating "Expiry date no more than 90 days").
However, further down the page under the heading "INFORMATION ABOUT THE TRIP", it asks under the subheading "Intended length of stay in Viet Nam (number of days)" the default of 30 days did not change. You have to manually change it to 90 days. Seems a tad redundant, seeing as the from and to dates were already input.
I couldn't advance to the payment page without fully completing the application, so no idea what remittance it would request.
An oversight on immigration's IT dept. allowing 90 days for $25? An oversight on the applicant's part where the length of stay was not changed from the default 30 days?
I suspect we shall soon hear from expat.com members.
@Aidan in HCMC
I saw the expiry date no more than 90 days, too. I changed the exit date manually to one day before and that notice went away. The website is slow and clumsy in a way. But, crossed fingers, if it comes up with what I think it will, I'm going to be happy.
I have a question, is there a time limit that you have to actually use the Visa?? For instance, if someone was to apply in September, but not traveling until January would that visa still be valid?? From what I have seen, it's $25 Single-entry and $50 Multiple-entry........90 days. Just a thought in case people can't travel right away...........Peace

You determine the time limit when you apply.
The evisa is only valid for the approved dates which you request.
The dates can only be changed by applying for a totally new evisa.
You do not need to enter Vietnam on the approved entry date, but you must leave on or before the approved expiration date.
Hope that helps
@OceanBeach92107 Helps a lot, I will be applying for multiple Visa's before I leave the US so this is good news. Thailand is considering the 90 day tourist visa as well, it will be approved, they now have a 10 year LTR Visa for residents. Thanx a lot. Peace

If you aren't aware, there is a simpler way of retiring in Thailand, a year at a time, with the help of an agent.
More info in the Thailand forum.
Hey everyone ... seems I'm not alone with my reaction to the new 90 eVisa form!
So anyhow, does anyone know what should be entered for the ID card number ?
As an Australian national we don't have a national identity card or number. Should I just put my passport number?
Also does anyone know what the requirement is for health insurance? I remember you previously needed at least Covid cover but I think that was dropped. Since it's asked about on the form I thought I should ask.
Thanks for any help in advance. Confused as to why the process is so complicated now. I'm sure that there are agents getting this wrong too. Not sure I would trust an agent to get all my previous travel details correct.

Hi Salensis. That new application site, PUBLIC SERVICE PORTAL MINISTRY OF PUBLIC SECURITY (Link), is not only time consuming to complete, but there are numerous complaints from expat.com members of, once receiving approval, not being able to access/print their eVisa. You didn't mention an arrival date, so if possible I suggest you hold off for just a bit longer prior to applying (and paying). It is an issue which has been ongoing, on again/off again, since Aug15th. Very frustrating for applicants.

Experience has shown that that would work fine. I completed an application mid August for a Canadian compatriot, and input his passport number as his "ID Card Number". The application was approved.
Also does anyone know what the requirement is for health insurance? I remember you previously needed at least Covid cover but I think that was dropped. Since it's asked about on the form I thought I should ask.
No health insurance requirement as of today's date. In future, it's anyone's guess. Simpler to include the question on the application form now than it would be to add it at a later date should it become compulsory, is my thinking.

Agents are actually saving the day, in many cases. That new eVisa site almost seems to be intentionally pushing people into the open arms of agents. The agents are typically able to secure the eVisa, lickety-split. The term "coffee money" springs to mind, but that's probably just me. There's a thread open (actually a couple of threads mention troubles) on payment/printing problems, here. (Link)
An alternative to using the new error-prone application portal is to use the old/original one, at NATIONAL WEB PORTAL ON IMMIGRATION (Link). Applicants are reporting a seamless application process by going that route. Not only that, the application form is itself simpler.
Please let us know how things proceed. Fingers crossed for you.
Thanks for the quick reply, much appreciated.
You didn't mention an arrival date, so if possible I suggest you hold off for just a bit longer
Yeah I saw the other comments about payment and downloading problems, not fun. My planned arrival is end of this month so I will wait a bit. I'll use my passport number for my ID an see how it goes. I checked for health insurance and have a quote for 200AUD so I think it's safer to just get it - I should be doing that anyhow.
Whatever happens I'll post the outome here.
@PJCZ
Hi again, PJCZ.
Members of the expat.com forum depend entirely on reports from other members. Updates will appear immediately as they are posted.
I suggest you occasionally check the forum's main page, here. Any new post will have a "NEW" badge next to the topic's title. Click the members name directly below the topic's title to be brought to the latest post in that thread (saves having to read/skim the entire thread from post #1).
I'm sorry I can't tell you more than that. We have no "in" (at least none of which I'm aware) at VN's department of immigration.
@Aiden et al:
My visa came through today. I applied for "only" 7 weeks and it was granted. I paid only USD $25 and didn't use an agent. It took quite a while as it came today, September 6, and I applied August 25, so about 12 days.
Patience is a good way to go.
The guys and gals and non-binary pals on this site are of such great service. THANKS!

Congratulations!
Not too long, considering the holidays AND the holiday slowdown.
I (and others I know) never count the day of submission, so looks as if you received it on the 6th full business day (28th, 29th, 30th, 31st, 5th, 6TH).
Very wise of you to apply with plenty of time to spare.
😎👍

Great news! Thank you for reporting back, Lennerd.
Is it multiple entry for $25, or single?
@Aidan in HCMC
Multiple entry.
Hello, i just want to find confirmation,
My gf is from the VISA-Free country (Philipines) in case when she want to visit Vientam for a week is there need to have any traditional documents? (tickets, accomodation)
Best regards,

Why such delay, usual processing time is 2-3 workdays
Why such delay, usual processing time is 2-3 workdays
-@narcrepellant2525
Not really.
According to the largest visa agency in Vietnam, these are averages:
So it would be more accurate to say "usually 3 to 5 days".
However, as AdainFromCanada and I have previously mentioned, you can't count the day of submission unless you submit early in the day HANOI TIME and definitely before 5 PM closing.
So whatever 1st day someone mentions, I disregard that and start counting on the next business day.
Once people use that method to count the days and also ignore Saturdays, Sundays & Holidays, they usually report that they did indeed receive their approval on the 3rd full business day of processing at immigration, with a significant amount receiving their approvals on days 4 & 5 (and 1 out of 20 applications averaging greater than 5 days)
I never counted day of submission, just using your rule of thumb you previously wrote on forum and which in my case proved 100 percent correct, I never had waiting time longer than 3 days, only delayed if I put something wrong (incorrect DOB f. Example ) or reusing same picture for almost a year ;-)
45 DAYS VISA EXEMPT A CAUTIONARY TALE
Against my better judgement from past experience I booked a business class return flight from SGN to CDG a week ago & planned to re enter Vietnam on the 45 days Visa Waver. Usually I have flown to & from France on Qatar or Emirate's stopping at Doha or Dubai & never been asked at CDG check in for proof onward travel within the 15 days visa free before & now 45 days.
However because it was Vietnam Airlines this time I had this niggling feeling & having read some posts on the subject I thought that I had better cover my ass & check.
So on the visa run to Moc Bai I mentioned it to Anna our trusted Visa agent my plan & asked her about it & she replied that the Vietnamese Government Official Policy was that no proof of onward travel is required. HOWEVER SHE SAID THAT SOME AIRLINES WERE REQUIRING IT BEFORE THEY WOULD LET YOU BOARD!!
So I sent a question to the Vietnam Airlines Help Desk & this is how it went......
ME.......................Hello, can you advise please. I am goodolboy traveling to HCMC form Paris CDG on Vietnam Airlines flight VN10 reservation code ************on Wednesday 6th December & I will enter Vietnam on the 45 days visa waver for UK citizen

Yes mate thats how I am looking to handle it, in fact my well trusted visa agent will sort it out (give me some sort of e mail like a letter head ticket) as I will go with her visa run 20th Jan & will have the Cambodia entry e visa to show as well. Failing that I can get a Vietjet flight ticket one way to KL for 51usd

thing is......' Forewarned is forearmed'
I just applied for a 90 day visa and tried to pay, but I tried to pay with a card I was just approved for which has a temporary expiration date until I register it. The site rejected it and brought me back to the application page with my info still filled out. For some reason, it changed the visa start date to one day earlier, so I fixed that and tried to pay again with a different card. This is what the site said:
"Order is paid sucessfull/paid failed or in processing. According to new regulation of the payment gateway, if you you paid failed or canceled payment, please create new evisa application. Sorry for the temporary inconvience." [sic]
Apparently I have to redo the application from the beginning. Quite annoying.
By the way, I was quoted $50 for the full 90-day multiple-entry visa. Since I have to redo the application, I will try a lesser number of days to see if that makes a difference. I will only be in Vietnam for two weeks this time, but since I came back again sooner than I expected, I figure it won't hurt to have a longer-term visa.

90 day multiple entry is $50 USD
90 day single entry is $25 USD
$25 USD is the minimum charge, even if you apply for less than 90 days

Frustrating. Check whether a "pending" charge for the $50 USD now shows on your new credit card, prior to reapplying.
May I ask which application portal you used to submit the application?
Was the portal the
PUBLIC SERVICE PORTAL MINISTRY OF PUBLIC SECURITY (Link)?
Or the
@OceanBeach92107
You misunderstand -- I was only supplying the data point that they did charge $50 for a 90-day, multiple-entry visa. The poster Lennerd reported above that they received a 7-week multiple-entry visa for $25. I was going to try an 80-day visa to see if that would cost less, but I forgot by the time I got through filling out the form a second time, so I ended up paying $50 for a 90-day, multiple-entry visa.
@Aidan in HCMC
National Web Portal on Immigration
As of my checking a few moments ago, it appears that both portals are now using the same application form.
The "PUBLIC SERVICE PORTAL MINISTRY OF PUBLIC SECURITY", after clicking "Submit application", now directs the applicant to
https://evisa.immigration.gov.vn/web/gu … uc-dien-tu
The "NATIONAL WEB PORTAL ON IMMIGRATION" , after clicking on "FOR FOREIGNERS", directs the applicant to
https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/web/g … uc-dien-tu
Each portal now seems to mirror the other, and so I'm hoping that whatever access number/code is issued can be searched through either pages "Search" function. (still no sign of the missing "faq" tab on either)
The only difference in each application page that I can see is the substitution of ".immigration.gov.vn" with that of "xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn". These suffixes follow on through the entire application process.
Incidentally, "xuat nhap canh" translates to "immigration"
note: I'm still inclined to suggest applicants use the NATIONAL WEB PORTAL ON IMMIGRATION (Link)

Good stuff, and thank you. That (older/original) portal you chose was performing quite well, according to reports.
When you have time, please let the forum know of your experience with the system once your eVisa is received. It seems to be evolving/changing frequently.

Gotcha!
I focused on the 2 week visit and didn't fully comprehend that you might possibly need to do another visit within the remainder of a 90 day period.
Whatever you do, best of luck!
This is what the site said:"Order is paid sucessfull/paid failed or in processing. According to new regulation of the payment gateway, if you you paid failed or canceled payment, please create new evisa application. Sorry for the temporary inconvience." [sic]Apparently I have to redo the application from the beginning. -@paulmsn
90 day multiple entry is $50 USD
90 day single entry is $25 USD
$25 USD is the minimum charge, even if you apply for less than 90 days

I will say apply for maximum 90 since fee is the same, you never know if you are sick or something so you have to add to that problem also immigration rule too.
