Hi all,

Thank you for accepting me here.. this is my story, I am in a relationship with a Norwegian man for over five years now.. we met online but have not been able to meet in person cos of his disability.. the disability also made it impossible for him to work ... Sometime ago, I applied for a visa to visit him but was rejected on several basis like we have never met, they doubt I will return to my country etc.. even after we submitted all documents explaining our situation and my rootedness in my country.. he even submitted doctor's journals to confirm his disability and a letter explaining everything... We decided to appel the decision tho and it's been five months and we have not heard from them yet.. does anyone know what our chances are and how long more we need to wait for a response from them thank you all and sorry about the long epistle

@amakaojie1 hi, from my own experience (on appeal case).. the response takes MORE than a year. BUT sometimes depends on your case like where you apply and your nationality.

regarding your specific situation, I can’t tell much. as far as I know about Norwegian imigration, if you’re in a relationship even for 5 years but haven’t met in real, they don’t really buy it. They also want you to send documents of photos of you and your partner together. They change their regulations every time, even now in marriage, they don’t really see it as a stable marriage/ relationship if it’s not over 2 or at least minimum 5 years. Same with cohabitant, about 2 years minimum.

My humble advice is, try to at least meet in real once before you deal with UDI. If your boyfriend can come to your country without a visa, maybe it’s better if he comes to you along with someone like a friend/family member with him if he’s not capable to travel alone.
