Hello everyone,

As you know, every country has its own flavours and tasting the local cuisine is a great way to discover the culture of a destination. Whether it's a small typical restaurant to taste local dishes, a traditional meal in a local's home, street food or fast food, there is something for everyone!

So, which dish do you want to try in Ecuador?
Which dish has impressed you the most and when did you discover it?
Do you know how to cook it and share it with your family?

Thank you for your taste contribution ;)

I don't cook. I love to eat. From the $2.50 to$4.50 almuerzos, to elegant eats such as some of our local foody meccas in Olon like Momo's and Noah, many in Montanita, and the restaurants great and small in Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca (many left to explore there). I like the long cut chifles better, I love the breakfast buffets at the Hilton Colón, but you can get a good desayuno almost anywhere, and if you don't like one, there's always another. Deciding where to eat is a big deal, and the choices are almost limitless, even in the smaller places.  Many lovely kinds of bread and yes, the soups are a treasure! Coffee, although the competition is fierce there. The restaurant trade is difficult, both when the pandemic was in full swing and now coming out of it. I feel for those who are doing it because it is so hard and am sad for those who've fallen by the wayside. One should try the cabañas on the beaches wherever you go. You may have a hard time finding where to eat if you are a picky eater, but most places are used to persnickety palates so they'll make what you want. Just one more place in the world I could explore gastronomically forever, if I had that long!
