Wow

The Cyprus Post have recently announced that as of 2 January 2023, the receipt of postal items from countries that are not member states of the European Union (including the United Kingdom) that contain medicinal products will not be allowed and consequently, will not be released to their recipients.

This includes postal items delivered at the Postal Services as well as private couriers.

In addition, that as of the aforementioned date, the Pharmaceutical Services will terminate the inspection of postal items from countries that are not member states of the European Union (including the United Kingdom).

Affected citizens are urged to notify their physicians in order to arrange for the provision of the required medicinal therapy.

For more information you may contact the Pharmaceutical Services at the number 22608696 or at the email phscentral@phs.moh.gov.cy.

Well done, Toon, for advising people of this!

@Toon Oh dear that's a pain then for a lot of people I guess. Are they going to inspect passenger arrivals bags at the airport for med as well?

Good point ...who knows?...

It's one way to ensure meds bought by CyGov from abroad get sold at the highest possible price ... "Never knowingly undersold" but often overpriced

What about those people who need life saving drugs and are only available at an affordable price from non EU countries...like USA UK etc

I guess it's something that every potential new arrival must consider before relocating..Bit of a bugger if you've moved already and this change has a major impact

Thats a bit of a shocker the term medicinal products could cover a very wide range of pills and potions could this new bit of legistation cover vitamin suppliments as well ?

Toon

@M Hunt it wouldn't surprise me at all if it did

Toon

Maybe a quick call or email to the Pharmaceutical Services as detailed above is in order should anyone have cause for concerns

@M Hunt

I hope it doesn’t include vitamin supplements too!!    I have recently placed an order with Healthspan, and although a lot of the orders come from Netherlands, I’m never sure until they turn up.

And they always take 3 or 4 weeks to arrive normally, and due to Christmas, will they come??

SimCityAT

I don't think they can do that for commercial shipments as it would probably be a breach of the EU-UK Trade & Co-operation agreement?

Toon

The notification is only about medical products. It doesn’t concern food supplements.

Kind regards
