Residency process - Max stay outside country

How low can a non-EU citizen be outside the country while seeking permanent residence in Belgium? The only official info I can find on the Office des Étrangers website is for EU citizens and says 6 months max over a one year period.

I searched the forums for that info but couldn't find anything. Links to official resources would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello,

as far as I remember it's 12 months, except for military obligation / health care / studies but everything must be justified, to be verified~

Once you get it, you can't be out of Belgium for 2 years straight or you'll loose your permanent resident status.

@AlexFromBelgium thanks so much! Would you know of an official source where I can find that information?
