Hi all, anyone any advice on the best SIM card to use in Mauritius for using the Hotspot to connect a laptop to the internet while out and about?

@andrew9799 There is no restrictions on Hotspot use in Mauritius. You could use any SIM cards and share your internet with how many devices you want. My.T, Emtel, Chili. I personally use both My.T and Emtel. They are very good.

Using hotspots means you don't need a SIM card.

Hello everyone,

Indeed, you can use a My T or emtel sim card in your phone (internet is around Rs 15 daily package/ weekly Rs 95 etc) use your phone as personal hotspot for your laptop. However, this type of package might be slow at times if used on several devices (it will depend on your needs).

You can also find free wifi in some places.

USB tethering is a better option. You simply connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable, then select 'tethering' as the USB option on your phone.

Mobile hotspot kills your battery, but tethering charges it.

I have what they call the Emtel 319 per month. It is 319 rupees per month. I get unlimited hotspot. Call are extra but with the unlimited internet, I don't have to top up my phone calls much & use messenger instead. You can also share the hotspot within your household - smart tv, other people's mobiles, etc. It works well.
