Coming to Saudi on Labour Visa - Change of profession for Iqama

Dear All,

I am facing a tricky situation here. I am working in Saudi Arabia as Software Developer with a Business visa. However, now my Saudi Company has asked that I should have Iqama instead of Business visa to work here.

For Iqama, the agent is going to get a Labor category visa for me (as I don’t have 5 years experience to register for SCE to get Iqama) first. Once I move to Saudi, then they will apply for change of profession to some other profession. I am not sure about the profession they will apply for. But agent is saying it will be some reasonable profession and I will be able to invite my family and other perks like this.

Now, confusion is, will I be able to get some profession which is relevant to my education? And in how much time I will be able to get my new profession. Secondly, is it good or recommended that I come on a labor visa and then change profession for professional Iqama? Will it have any impact on my passport profile, for example in future I want to travel to some other country as well.

Sorry for a long query, but I am thinking too much about this as of now. If someone have knowledge about it, please share. Will really appreciate. Thanks!

Cheryl

@Ghost-mfa hi

Many companies go this,way to help the employee with the iqama process. For the title and how relevant it is to your experience you have to check with company but keep in mind that they have limit edoptions due to saudization regulations .

The iqama is a,seperate card and doesnot affect your passport but tge entry visa is stamped on the ppt. I dont think this,dhould any effect on you in the future

@ghadaelhusseini thanks for the valuable info.

For example company applies for a change of profession from labor category to Project Manager. Does Project Manager profession falls out of range SCE? I mean if this project manager title also needs to be approved from SCE or some other authority, will not they ask again about the 5 years of experience? Or this PM title doesn’t require any such approval? Thanks

@Ghost-mfa Sorry I don't have answer to your question, instead I am asking you a question, did you settle in KSA? Did anything work for you? I am a software QA engineer with 11 years of experience. My brother in law is arranging a labour category visa for me, so that I can stay with him in KSA and then find a job. WIll that be a problem when i get job? Will category cause any sort of trouble for me? Waiting for your kind response, thanks

@Ghost-mfa the answer of your last point is don't over think. Based on my 10yrs experience in KSA. The case as you explain is so common. Gohead with Labor Profession and later change of profession can be done.
