New members of the Italy forum, introduce yourselves here - 2023

Hi everyone my name is Abel. I'm originally from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I have 7+ years of experience in designing embedded systems for an Ethiopian Governmental Organization. I came to Italy because I got a job offer to work as a Senior Software Designer at a company called Luxoft Automotive, Italy. I came to Turin on Monday, May 22, 2023. Though I'm really grateful that my company booked me a hotel to stay at for an entire month, I still would appreciate any kind of connection with other ex-pats like me located in the beautiful city of Turin, Italy.

Bhavna

I live in New Zealand in olive and wine country, close to the sea, hold an EU passport and am considering living in Italy for 90-180 days a year to enjoy two summers and no more winters. I'll be asking questions on the forum and thank those of you have been there, done that and have tips to share so we can walk around the obstacles rather than have to climb them.

Hello and welcome diterra,

Where are you planning to live in Italy ?

Regards

Bhavna

We are looking at Abruzzo but will probably visit in September to explore. Looking for a centro storico with a pleasant summer climate (love Lecce, but the summers are unbearable). Reasonable priced housing, prefer commercial ground floor for a commercial art studio and secure parking for a classic car, Slow Food, friendly expats (and locals, although sometimes that is asking too much when one does not speak the language).

@Julien Welcome friend I am Bangladeshi I am working in Bahrain

@Julien  Thanks Julien

yes I've different new plans but unfortunately, I don't have the vise

What would you like to know about this beautiful destination ?

Regards

Bhavna

Hello everyone.

My situation:

For the first time in 30 years I took a vacation out of the US this Spring, and my first choice was Italy.  I enjoyed it as much or more than expected ... which is to say, I enjoyed it a lot!

Now, when considering retirement, Italia is again a country I am looking at.  Just like everyone else, I like the idea of lower cost living, beautiful scenerey, a more relaxed pace and great food,.  Plus, as a bicyclist, the country is even more attractive for all the enthusiasm and activity there involving all things bicci.

No firm plans at the moment, but really glad to find this 'site with so much information and of course the many other persons with similar plans and interests.

Regarding retirement, do you have a favourite region where you would like to spend your golden days?

Cheers,

Hi Cheryl,

Seems there are many attractive areas.  Maybe just up the coast from Rome to be near a big city.  Alternately, Puglia might be a good fit for what I am looking for.  I saw some cities in this region, but it is difficult to really get a sense of an area from a short trip, so I will definitely post in the main section of the forums as you mention.

Hello,

I am Scott from NYC. Good evening, I have a wild story about how I fell in love in Florence and planning to get married to a Florentine!

@Julien

lookng at a house in Abruzzo.. info about the area please.

@Julien

Just arrived in Firenze/Florence last Sunday. Here for 90 days. Then maybe back in 90.

I got an email from the American consulate, saying to be cautious because of what's happening in Israel. Any thoughts?
