Hi, Gretchen here. Our family is considering a move to San Miguel de Allende for a sabbatical year. There are so many things we think we’d love about the town! Our biggest hurdle I think will be finding education for our kids. They will be 15/16 yrs old (10th grade) and 12/13 yrs old (7th grade), and we want to find schooling with instruction in English for them. Wondering if there are any other families who’ve gone through this process in SMA? We are potentially excited to consider this move!

@gretchcollins

it is a wonderful place with lots of nice people.  But i must warn you of something that has killed 6 Americans in Mx.  it’s called carbon minoxide poisoning.  my  daughter rented an expensive casa in SM.  For two weeks she was fine then the night of Oct 30 she told me she was cold and was going to turn on the fireplace in her bedroom.  I nor she knew anything about some of these not being properly vented and the rooms having no alerts about this dangerous gas.  it has been a nightmare dealing with the authorities to have her cremated and her belongings sent to me.  sorry to tell you this, but Americans must know about this.

@gretchcollins

GRETCHEN BE SURE TO TAKE A carbon monoxide alert with you.  over 350 people have died worldwide because owners have not put them in rentals.  my 67 daughter died two months ago in San Miguel.
