We have been to Cabo several times and had a timeshare at one point and love the slower pace. We are exploring how easy or difficult making the move would be. We currently live in Central California, one retiree and one still in the work force.

Hello fellow wanderers!

My husband and I have lived in Mexico for many years, the last 8 in Queretaro. We are both retired, he from a career as an auto mechanic, and I from teaching English (in Mexico City) and Spanish (Ohio, New Mexico, Texas).

He is an accomplished guitar player (blues, classic rock, particularly The Allman Brothers - he had a popular tribute band in Ohio before we moved.. We love attending concerts and I am always busy with knitting, sewing, and writing. 

I was an exchange student in 1963, staying with a family in Taxco for one month. I have returned to Mexico frequently since then and brought a group of New Mexico high school students to stay with families for a month in Jalapa, Veracruz. I loved watching my students blossom in this culture! I have also lived in/ visited Oaxaca state and villages throughout, especially archeological sites. (I saw the total eclipse of 1991 while sitting on a pyramid at Monte Alban - villagers, Europeans, etc. , Zapotecan poetry of how the rabbit would eat the sun, dancers emplumados...What an experience!

My name is Ward, originally from Belgium.  Moved to Mexico City about 2.5 years ago from Lima for work, and still loving every minute of it.  I live in the historical center of CDMX, so it is crazy busy during the day but nice and peaceful at night and during the weekends.  Traveled extensively throughout the whole of latin america for work and am now in process of opening a chilled neighborhood style coffee place here in CDMX, super excited!!  I speak English, Spanish Dutch, French and German.  I am engaged to the most amazing Mexican guy, Gerardo, a high school teacher.  Loooove travel, good coffee and graffiti, feel free to reach out to me with questions or suggestions any time.

Hello,  my son and myself bought a house in Celestun.  My wife, myself and my son always had the dream to retire in Mexico on a beach.  Unfortunately, my wife recently passed away unexpectedly so now it will be just myself and my son.  We have  been looking everywhere in Merida for furniture and aren't having much luck.  Either really cheap furniture or really expensive.  Can anyone help?

look at celestun.  cute little fishing town known for pink flamingos.  has everything you need and cheap and safe.  about 4 hours from cancun.  no hurricanes.  much better than touristy cabo. cheaper too. 

@Julien Hola!  I'm Laurie from Pennsylvania, in the US.  Formerly from Brooklyn, NY.  I lived for a few years in Guayaquil, Ecuador and traveled to Venezuela many times.  The situation in the US has become concerning and I'm looking for a quiet, secure, and peaceful place to retire.  I plan to visit Cuernavaca soon to see if it's feasible to rent and explore there for awhile.  I am an ESL instructor of adults and also recently sold my business in the veterinary/pet industries.  My Spanish is rusty but definitely will flourish.  Feel free to ask any questions.  Thanks for inviting me to introduce myself.

Hello,  we are buying a house in celestun mexico.  Found a great duplex, right on the beach for $450k.  about 45 minutes from merida, the safest city in mexico.  It is a sleepy fishing village known for its pink flamingos.  Population 9000 but they have everything you need.  Housing is cheap also.  Our realtor, gary, has been amazing, helping us with everything.  He has lived there for 20 years and also owns 50 rental properties. 

Hello!! we are looking at buying a home in either cancun or conkal/merida area. we are from the states, but have always loved going to mexico on cruises. not only the exchange rate, but the atmosphere! we plan to first buy a place to hopefully rent out, and in the next few years make the full time move down there once the kids get older! our plan is to come down there multiple times a year for a good month at a time (hopefully). we can not wait to come down there! we are always doing something different (went from banking to farming and now moving to mexico haha). there seems to be so many possiblities in mexico and we can not wait to meet new people!

Hi, Thank you for the welcome.  My husband Larry & I retired (from the fashion industry) in 2022 to Savannah Ga.  We love living in Savannah but the summers are so hot and humid, we don't get to enjoy our house and gardens as much as we hoped.  We've heard a lot about San Miguel de Allende from friends and reading ex-pat blogs. We find the arts, music and the city's history very appealing.  We are coming for a visit next month to take advantage of the temperate weather and to get a feel of the city; and possibly re-locating here in the future.  Any recommendations for walkable areas with coffee shops, grocery stores, restaurants and access to public transportation?  TIA, BC (HurleyGirly)

Hey. My name is Cheri, and I recently retired from my position as an English professor at a community college in Florida.

I have lived in the same neighborhood for life, so if I'm going to try something new now is the time. Several things have factored into my decision to consider moving to Rosarito, Mexico:

1. I have three dogs, so I must be able to drive to my new location.
2. I'm on a fixed income, so I need to ensure that this is an affordable choice for me.
3. I would like to live close to San Diego.
4. I love moderate weather, and from what I've discovered, Rosarito fits the bill.

Any information that can be provided would be greatly welcomed.

Hello, my name is Peter and I am 55 years old. I am very interested in moving to Mexico, preferably Mexico City / the surrounding area, within the next two years.

My family is originally from Pakistan (I was born there); we lived in different countries before immigrating to the US in 1981. We  have been in TX since 1982. I am a US citizen and a US Army veteran. I have been employed in the IT industry since the early 1990s, first in PCB manufacturing, then software, then oil and gas, and now medical / healthcare. I am currently an IT Project manager and Business Analyst. I have lived all over Texas and currently in San Antonio.

I am a restless type and have been in one place for the last ten years, so it is time to go try out another country for at least another 8-10 years or longer.

I am divorced, my children are grown, and my family all live in other cities or states so moving is fairly easy for me. I will most likely sell my house here. I have 4 dogs so I need to bring them with me. I also work and study remotely (finishing up a Masters and intending to do another one or do a PhD online) so I would need good internet. I am a part-time musician so I would like to be near a good music community. All I will be bringing with me are my large library, my dogs, my car and my instruments. I prefer warmer weather. I would like to be near an embassy and/or a college as my goal is to teach and maybe eventually get some sort of diplomatic relations or foreign service job. I am also currently completing certification as an Expressive Arts Therapist and would like to help with mental health services for the disabled community (I myself have a disability).

I look forward to meeting expats who are currently living in Mexico as well as interacting with those who are interested in moving there as well.

I feel the same @lauriek0910 about the political and economic situation. I have wanted to leave the US for many years but now seems like the time. I am located in TX so moving will be fairly easy (I hope) for me. Best of luck to you.
