necessary documents and insertion for an Italian girl

Post new topic

AlessiaCap

Hi my name is Alessia and with my family we decided to move to Portugal, especially to the Algarve, as we have a 7 year old girl our main concern is to find a school for her and decide where to stay from there. I have contacted both private and public schools, our idea would be to initially enroll her in public school and later in private. The only school I got an answer from was the private one, for the rest still nothing... it's so difficult to find information about it (necessary documents and insertion for an Italian girl who has just started studying English?) Who is there for already passed how did you find yourself? Thanks to whoever will answer

Hi Alessia, Welcome.

Public schools have programmes to welcome students of a native language other than Portuguese.

Insist on the public elementary schools in the municipality where you live. If you say which municipality, I can search which public schools are available there.

Hi, thanks for your reply, we are considering Albufeira, Portimao and Lagos

JohnnyPT

Public schools in these 3 municipalities:

Albufeira ( 1 school grouping )

https://www.aealbufeira.pt/escolas/

Lagos ( 2 school groupings )

https://www.cm-lagos.pt/areas-de-atuaca … de-publica

Portimão ( 5 school groupings )

https://www.cm-portimao.pt/menus/servic … rupamentos

Here you have to choose each blue tab "AE .....".

____

7 years = primary school, 1st cycle = EB1 school (= first 4 years of primary school)

A school grouping ( Agrupamento de escolas, AE) is an organisational unit of the Portuguese education system, endowed with its own administrative and management bodies, formed by pre-school establishments and one or more levels and cycles of education (basic education and secondary education), based on a common pedagogical project.

P.S. There is a teachers' strike going on this week, some schools are likely to be closed...
