Does the Rental Agreement submitted at the time of D7 Visa Application at VFS has to be the same at the time of SEF Appointment?

or can it be different?

because right now I’m paying too much

and I’d like to save some money, while I still wait for the Visa.

Hi Swaraj, Welcome.

You must have one lease agreement signed by you and the landlord guaranteeing you evidence of adequate accommodation. It does not need to be the same one you submitted in your visa application.

SEF - RESIDENCE PERMIT (GENERAL REGIME)

I am in the same position and confirmed with my attorney that No, the address does not have to be the same for your SEF appointment.  Excellent advise to make sure the SEF office has your new address.

It would be helpful for others to know that it's best to contract for the cheapest apartment possible to start your D7 application,  Makes no sense to pay significant euros while sitting in the US awaiting your VISA.  Contractually, you can cancel the rental agreement once you are 1/3 of the way into it.  Then look for a more suitable apartment once your are close to getting the email from the Consulate confirming your Visa approval.
