ALARM BELL FOR ILLEGAL ESTATE AGENTS - Filenews 2/3

The Real Estate Agents Registration Council is sounding the alarm about illegal real estate transactions to citizens, calling on them to report illegal ones. From the number of complaints before it and from the findings of the inspections of its inspectors, the Council finds that the problem is unfortunately taking on dimensions. It therefore considers it necessary to assist citizens – interested buyers in combating it, as they are the ones who come into direct contact with the illegals.

It is very important that citizens ask individuals, who introduce themselves as real estate agents, for the necessary proof (annual license to practice or professional card for the current year) so that they can confirm that they are licensed real estate agents. The confirmation of the details can be done easily and quickly through the website of the Real Estate Agents Registration Council.

For confirmation of data or complaint they can contact a Council official on 22666377 phone, fax at 22518490 or email info@ktimatomesites.com

To avoid unpleasant situations, the public is encouraged to use the Council's electronic real estate platform, "ktimatomesites.com". The platform is a reference point for reliable operations and opportunities, as buyers can only search and locate properties from licensed Real Estate Agents.

The president of the Real Estate Agents Registration Council, Marinos Kynaigeirou, said: "Illegal real estate is one of the most important problems that afflict the profession. We have done a lot and we are determined to do even more to address it. It is very important in this effort that we make to have by our side the citizens who are interested in buying or renting real estate. They should know that the whole thing concerns them directly as they may fall prey to scammers. We call on citizens to be suspicious and to ask for the necessary evidence and of course not to hesitate to report the illegals to us."

It is recalled that since last December the Council has also made public the details of those legal and natural persons who are tried and convicted of illegal real estate transactions.
