Have you considered starting a digital business while living as an ex-pat in Germany? If so, why?

I can only tell you why not: The formal requirements and buerocracy of starting and running a business in Germany are quite complex - and need a high level of German to master. If you don't speak the language, you'd have to engage costly professional services for all registration, licensing, accountancy and taxation matters.

Why would someone consider working remotely while living in a german speaking country?

There are advantages in remote work, e.g. no time lost in commuting, as well as disadvantages, e.g. lack of social contact. But these are not specific to German speaking countries. So maybe you can explain what you mean?

In case you mean working for an employer in another country: That is difficult in Germany, because you would be treated a self-employed - with all its disadvantages (see above).
