Retire w D Visa in Belgium

Post new topic

Has anyone had experience applying to retire in Belgium.  I applied Feb. 2023 and have not had any further information from NY consulate where I applied.  I have a sister who is Belgian/US and another sister who is a resident and working in BE for over 20 yrs.  Would like to retire near them.  Any idea how   how  long a visa to "just retire takes and if the prospect are favorable to retire there....

Hello,

as long as you can show a bank account full of money that will prove our gov that you won't cost a single euro, everything should be fine (and a clean criminal record)

But as a non-EU, visa D can legally take up to 9 months - 1 year but are often processed faster, especially for retirement :)

Thank you kindly for your response! I hope it will be processed faster than 9.....
