Belgian National Living in India

Post new topic

anonymous mister

I would like to know the logistical difficulties of living in India after obtaining belgian nationality.

Lets say I have a minor kid (4yrs old) and wife. If we as a family become belgian and for some reason we want to move back to india for some years (lets say 10yrs or permanently). I have the following questions

  1. I know OCI has lifetime validity but there for kids they stick a photo which will become obsolete as they grow - in such cases how will the oci be renewed ? do we have to visit belgium just to renew the OCI for kids. ?
  2. Passport for minors - can it be reviewed in india ?  Belgian embassy in india has biometric facility ?
  3. Any notable disadvantages of living as a NRI in india ? (in terms of tax or other benefits)?

Your view would be appreciated.

Please note there is a valid reason to go back to India and we would need our kids to benefit from EU passport. Also we wish to return sometime later and do not want to start from zero.
