Hi we are moving to Jomtien in June and would like to have a rough idea of utility and  service costs for a large 2 bedroom condominium, there will be two people living there I understand that we cannot be given an exact cost but would appreciate an estimation

thanks

Electricity, you have to find out how much you're paying per unit = kwh. The government price just went up again, now it's ฿4.77/unit before adding the fuel tariff and 7%tax. How much you'll be paying per month is not easy to say, it depends for example on air-cons, how many and the capacity on each unit. The maintenance fee/year differs a lot between condominiums. Where I'm staying the fee is ฿257/sqm per year + some small fees for this and that. But I know about condominiums with much higher maintenance fee. Water isn't very expensive, the cost/month depends mostly on how long showers you take. My average cost is maybe ฿225/month. It goes up and down for some unknown reasons. Cable TV ฿400/month.

Again, the cost per unit/kwh is very important. You shall never pay more than the government price and you shall pay the bill yourself, meaning condo management shall hand over the bill from PEA every month. I don't know which Thai bank you're banking with, but I'm using scheduled payments at Kasikorn Bank (the mobile bank), and it works perfectly. No need to pay the bill at for example Lotus or 7/11 like many people do. To be honest,I have never understood that.

in Saraburi with 2 AC units running on low for 1/2 a day's for the one and all night for the other , both set at 28 we paid 3500 baht for the month but very hot and humid so had to do ... still far less than what I would pay for heating in upstate New York for the winter ... where I use to pay 8750 a month with the minimum heat setting ... lots cheaper here and I can for the rest of the year manage with just room or ceiling fans

I have 2 ac units, one 24,000 BTU inverter, normally running on low from 4pm, and a 12,000 BTU inverter in the bedroom, running on quiet mode  = a snap lower than low about 7.5-8 hours every night. I have replaced every bulb in my quite large condo with LED's. It makes a difference especially if there are many bulbs. I have a new 50" Google TV with just 85W power consumption, which is really low compared to my old 43" Panasonic plasma monster. The average cost for the last 4 months have been ฿2.143. The April bill was of course the most expensive one and the January bill the cheapest, which is normal. I guess next 4 months will be more expensive, at least 25%. The Thai government is making a big deal about the ฿0.07 discount/unit before VAT from May to August which is ฿35 cheaper on a 500 units consumption. What a joke.
