I arrived in Marrakech and started getting together my final documents.
I attended the British Embassy and obtained my two documents from them. I then went to the adoul to see what was required in terms of my certificate of islam was concerned. E.g could my masjid in uk give me this or do I need one in Morocco.
The response shocked me. The adoul clearly had an agenda, questioned my commitment to islam- because my name is not islamic and I am a white man. He was not too happy when I asked him, where in the Quran it said muslims need a certificate. Never the less, I left and found another adoul - mainly due to the fact my fiancees family are very well known within the area- who was more than helpful and reduced the amount of documents we needed
Today I came to Rabat to collect my criminal record from Ministry of Justice. I ordered this online a month ago so it was ready to collect. I was told this cost a small fee, I may have been lucky but I was not charged anything.
i then went to get my two documents from the British Embassy legalised. Again, this cost me nothing- not sure if this is normal or not.
All that is outstanding now is the medical certificate, we will get these tomorrow. Then hopefully the adoul can start to process the marriage.
@laurencej96 Hi I feel your pain with all the requirements needed to get married it’s such a headache, and the travelling back and forth. Reading I saw that you ordered your criminal record on line, would you mind if I asked how you done this ? If this can be done via on line I also am in the same boat with paper work prep and would rather get ahead with some of it now rather than in Morocco. I did the same with my translation from English to Arabic I was lucky to find someone that took a scanned copy now and then take originals when there. I wasn’t aware that you could do the Moroccan criminal record via on line though
best of luck 😊
Where ever you took your shaddah I’m pretty sure that they can do your certificate of conversion. Or the Moroccan Embassy in London may be able to assist you if your local Imam can’t 😊
@laurencej96 you are on the right track with everything you need to do.
With adouls there are many you can choose from. We usually recommend people visit at least 2 or 3 so you know your getting the normal price for mixed marriage which should be between 900 to 1500 Dirhams. And most importantly that you feel happy and comfortable with your adoul.
With the conversation to Islam certificate yes you can obtain this from the UK but it needs to include the Muslim name that you choose in the certificate. It then needs to be translated to Arabic in Morocco.
However most adouls in Morocco can provide you with your certificate too which will be a bit easier and faster as your here.
my commitment to islam- because my name is not islamic and I am a white man. He was not too happy when I asked him, where in the Quran it said muslims need a certificate.
This is not a question about what is written in the Quran. For the man to provide the certificate of conversation, this is Moroccan law. As you are getting a lawful marriage in a foreign country we must respect the law and obligations even when they might not make sense to us as foreigners.
Even though your question was legit he could have explained the answer better to you rather then making you feel uncomfortable.
You are right to find another adoul if you don't feel comfortable with the one you choose.. This is meant to be the happy moment in your life!
Anyway it sounds like with everything else you are on the right track.
If you are in the Rabat area and still need to obtain your conversation to Islam without the feeling of judgement send me a message and I can recommend an adoul. Also if I'm Marrakech I can recommend a very good adoul that can do the conversion and complete the marriage for you fast.
Good luck and congratulations 🎊

James
Marriage in Morocco
@bevlumley41 You can order your criminal record online https://casierjudiciaire.justice.gov.ma/Accueil.aspx?culture=fr-FR - Normally you should get it without issues most of the time.
We assist with mixed marriages in Morocco and the last 5 couples that did get it online, 3 picked up the criminal record and it had errors in it! The country of residence was the most common mistake and they had to go back to the Ministry of justice in Rabat to request a new one in person.
To obtain your Moroccan Criminal Record in person directly from the Ministry of Justice in Rabat - has information on how to do it.**********
As a visit to Rabat is required for the other formalities, for anyone needing the criminal record I recommend you just apply in person to get it. Then if there are any issues with it you can get it fixed on the spot 👍
Good luck and congratulations 🎊

Moroccan Criminal Record
You will need to obtain a Moroccan criminal record for the purposes of Marriage in Morocco. Even if you have never been in Morocco you will still need the record. The application form which is in French and Arabic for your Moroccan criminal record is available from the Ministry of Justice in Rabat. You also need to take photocopies of the biometric (photo page) of your passport and the page containing the stamp of your last entry into Morocco.
How to apply for your Moroccan Criminal Record
1. Visit the Ministry of Justice in Rabat, Morocco
2. Ask them for the Criminal Record Application
3. Complete the Application in English
4. Get Photocopies of your passports Biometric Page and the page showing your last entry stamp into Morocco.
5.Return the completed application with your passport photocopies to the Ministry of Justice
The police will then provide you with a receipt which contains the day and time you need to return to the Ministry of Justice to collect your criminal record.
If you have further queries feel free to reply here or direct message.
Once the court approve the marriage, does a time limit apply to the marriage contract being signed? Or can this be done whenever?
@laurencej96 after the court approves the marriage you are able to sign the contract at a later date. Other couples have done this.
As for the time frame you have to sign the contract you should talk with the adoul you are working with and make them aware you want to sign the contract at a later date for more advice. They will best be able to advise you.

@MarriageInMorocco
Hi can u give me the adoul contact in rabat thank you
@harleyryder
Yeah i need the link too my fiance lives in uk and he need the moroccan criminal record
@Fati93 you need one from the Rabat police station and take it to the city police station you live in. All done in Arabic
@harleyryder its not from the ministry of justice ? Because i read that on another website they said " Moroccan Criminal Record
You will need to visit the Ministry of Justice in Rabat to obtain your Moroccan Criminal Record. The application form is in Arabic/French and you’ll need to provide photocopies of your passport with the application. Depending on the time you submit this application the record will be ready within 1 to 3 days."
I live already in rabat and my fiance british so he cant apply online to get it ?
I have many questions if someone can help me:
First i read that we need uk embassy appointement in morocco to get 3 documents : Affirmation of Marriage.
Notarized copy of your Passport.
Certificate of Nationality/Citizenship.
Is that true ? And he cant get them from his embassy in uk .
-And they said all the documents obtained from uk and morocco should be translate arabic here in morocco. My question is if that true ? He can translate them in uk that would save us some time
-and for the police interview if someone have ideas what questions they ask
You can obtain the embassy documents from either Rabat or Marrakesh. If you're unable to find an appointment, make sure to check every day. The appointment availability at the British embassy is quite disappointing, but based on my experience, there are cancellations and new appointments added without prior notice.
The Arabic translations need to be completed in Morocco by translators certified to the court.
The police interview is more like a friendly conversation. It involves discussing how you both met, his job, family, and your future plans, such as moving to another country together, etc. The specific questions may vary depending on the city, as they are not the same everywhere, but they revolve around similar topics.
Getting married here is a process, but with proper planning before leaving the UK, you can accomplish things relatively quickly.
@MarriageInMorocco
hello, thank you for the detailed explanation.i would like to ask about the medical certificate. how do i get it? its from any doctor?

Salamz Arif,
You mentioned something about DBS being accepted instead of an Acro Police check, my question is does it have to be within three months of the time you have your appointment in Morocco. As my appointment is in January (Marrakesh) and my DBS was Issued in October.
I also get Paid on a weekly basis, so my wage slips come weekly, would I need to print twelve lots of Wage Slips and have them translated, or can I just send them a letter confirming my employment.
look forward to your response
regards
Arif
Hi, do I (female) need a letter of employment and wage slips if I'm going to marry in morocco, but at the same time going to apply to live there straight after we marry?
I don't plan on returning to England once I get there to marry my fiancé. Can anyone help please?
Thank you

-@LailaDe
yes still
need all documents
Hi all,
I wanted to ask if you need to complete the Affirmation Marital status on the GOV.UK website, this also gives you the option to certify your passport.
Can you go to the Embassy in Marrakesh or Rabat without doing this?
@LailaDe
I lived in Morocco for 10 years.
My ex is British moroccan.
I beg you to reconsider your choice to live there straight away.
Please take your time.
Morocco is not the place you think it is once your living there as a woman.

@aishahm
I'm living in Morocco for 19 years. My husband is Moroccan. Do not make a generality
@LailaDe
Hi
It's best you bring your wage slips and letter of employment. They asked to see mine (I am female), but I know other females getting married were not asked. No need to get them translated.
@Vakil good day
Please can you also DM me about police checks, acro or basic DBS required?
@Yasmin21 some say dbs works but get acro for safety as that's what I have heard works the most because it has your picture on it.
The record of Islam needs to be done in Morocco again. I had the same question to the adoul as I reverted 3 years ago. It has to do with the worst-case scenario, in case you or your partner dies and the implementation of the law regarding the inheritance.
@eXOFNG1983 Yes you do need both. The Moroccan criminal check is for free and will be given to you on the same day
Do you need both a uk criminal record check and Moroccan?
@Yasmin21we got married in october this year and we used only the basic DBS but with apostile
also the birth certificate with an apostile
@Yasmin21 ur partner from uk needs to bring
-copie of birth certificate with apostile
-basic DBS with apostile
-photos
-employment letter ( it should mention the job and how much ur partner earn)
-passeport
In morocco ur partner needs to do:
-islam certificate
-moroccan criminal record
-Affirmation of Marital Status from the british embassy in morocco (book an appointement on their website )
Hi I've come across this group and I'm hoping someone may be able to help me. I've read through the thread, and it's very helpful so far.
I'm A British revert muslim (I have a shahada certificate) and I want to marry a moroccan man I met.
In the UK, I know you can do the nikah without legalising the marriage. The nikah is the most important thing to me, but I'm not sure if this is possible in morocco with it being a muslim country? Does the legal and religious processes of marriage coincide?
Also, what paperwork do I need to get married in Marrakesh?
To confirm, I have my decree absolut from my divorce, UK passport, a DBS (though over 3 months old) and certificate of shahada.
Please advise and thank you in advance!
