Flying to Belgium with D visa from a third country

Hello Community,

I am Ethiopian working/living in Belgium with card "A" since June 2022.

And eventually my application for family reunification has turned out to be positive - a week ago.

However,my wife needs to join her brother's wedding in Alexandria,Egypt end of June 2023.

So,Question is can my wife and my children fly to Belgium from Egypt with the visa D that they have obtained from the Belgian Embassy in Addis Ababa(Ethiopia).

Or they will need to fly back to Ethiopia and take another flight from there to Belgium since they have obtained the visa in Addis.

I am kindly looking for your kind response /advice.

It does not really matter. They can fly from any third country. People do it very often and it is pretty normal. Many countries do not have direct connection so a connecting flight to a third country is common.
