I believe there are quite a few South Africans in Paraguay! Where do you stay and what do you do? How are you finding it? Hoping to move there next year. Also, how easy is it to bring two cats with me?!

@FionaZerbst we live just outside Caaguazu, which is about 180 km from Asuncion, and 140 km from the border with Brazil. We've lived in the Chaco on a dairy farm, in Capiata, just outside San Miguel Misiones, Coratei Misiones, and Caaguazu. We enjoyed Paraguay, no matter where we were, and we would not even think about leaving again. It could be easy or very difficult, depending on your attitude toward the locals. They are absolutely the best people you could come across if you treat them with respect. Caaguazu has about 100,000 inhabitants, but it feels like a smaal town. We have good supermarkets, banks, any kind of shops, restaurants and frequent festivals and happenings. We even have Bolt if you do not want to buy a car. You can catch a bus to just about anywhere without even planning ahead, and without delay.

@FionaZerbst we brought our dog with us. It was super simple as he only needed his vaccination record and a certificate from the vet that he is healthy. In our case he flew with us in the cabin as an emotional support dog. At the airport this side they checked his documents and we could leave with him. No quarantine. There are a few South African families in our area, although we do not really have any contact with them. In and around Nueland in the Chaco are quite a few families though, if you really want to be close to other SA expats. We have some SA expat friends but, just as it would be in South Africa, we are not friends with all SA expats just because we are from the same country.
