I am Sara. I am looking for some information about opening a bank account in Mauritius.

What are the requirements and which is the best hassle free bank for expats with/without residency permits?

TIA

Hi Sara, I notice there are HSBC branches in Kenya. If you open an account there, must be a Premium account, you can then contact HSBC in Mauritius (in Port Louis) and they will help you to open an HSBC Mauritius account while you are still in Kenya. This is by far the easiest way to get a bank account in Mauritius. If you wait until you are here it is still theoretically possible before getting your residency permit, and people do do it, but it can be very frustrating and take a long time

@Adam.Sara

Hello, Easiest way to open  a bank account is to go to the bank with you occupation permit and request them to open a bank account for you. There are other papers which they are going to ask like a proof of identity and proof of address. Most common bank is MCB.
