I have recently taken an early retirement from being an Art teacher for 25 years and decided to move to Spain. I am a creative and adventurous person and probably quite impulsive. I have 2 grown-up children who live back ion England. I bought a rather rundown property in Ugijar, which I am slowly 'doing up' with lots of TLC. I shop and visit Almeria quite often for visits and shopping. I do not know the area well, though and always need advice about different surrounding areas, Spanish laws, rules, regulations etc. as I am still learning! I hope I can make some friends around Ugijar area on this forum.

Hi Julie,  I hope your move to Spain is going well.  I came across your post as I am considering moving to Almeria for 3 to 4 months.  I was first considering Malaga, as I know this city quite well, but I like the idea of somewhere a little bit more local.  I wanted to ask you for your honest opinion about Almeria as a place to live.  I will be moving by myself (and little dog) my daughter is grown up and left home too.  I work online, but have afternoons free to explore.  I am worried a little about socializing, as I don't see many meet ups, like there are in Malaga.  How have you found it to meet other people?  Any feedback or suggestions I would be grateful to hear.
