Customs Clearing for Personal Effects

Post new topic

ChiRon8

Dear All,

My apologies if this has been covered a million times before.

I am an American relocating from Bulgaria to VN for a teaching at a reputable university.

I have sent via DHL a large-ish suitcase with my personal items - some clothes, decorations, photographs, my PhD diploma, etc ahead of me to Ho Chi Minh City.

This suitcase is now being held in customs. Tomorrow I am going to the airport to visit Customs to secure what is supposedly the last piece of information I need for DHL - a signed and  stamped customs clearance form declaring 1 piece of unaccompanied luggage. I have my passport, my original boarding passes, and my customs form.  This I will deliver to DHL for them to secure final customs clearance.  I have a VN colleague coming with me to the airport to help me communicate.

Does anyone have any thoughts or advice for me?

Thank you in advance!

Ronald

@ChiRon8 hi Ron,

It's very formal in Vietnam. If you still want to get your package. Don't make the problem bigger that you have the other way to take out your goods.
