Family Reunification - shared housing - spouse only

Hi all,

I am UK citizen living in Brussels on type A visa. I am looking to bring my spouse (South Korean living in UK - we don’t have any children) to Belgium via family reunification visa.

However we have a concern regarding accommodation requirements - I am currently living in a sharehouse in a 16m2 room with private shower/sink (toilet, kitchen, living room etc is shared). I have a contract for the individual room (rather than shared contract for whole house) which states the room is for “sole occupancy”. But it also states they can charge me additional 100€ rent if I have add a “guest” stay for more than 1 week a month.

I had a look and can't find anything specific for this situation - does anyone have any experience with this and know whether this would be acceptable for the family reunification?

I'd rather not live alone for 6 months before her visa is approved, if it can be helped. We expect to find our own place a couple of months after she arrives.

Thank you in advance,

T
