We've just arrived in our village house and we've found some poo in the upstairs rooms.  It's a lot smaller that mouse or rat poo  is both in and I think under the beds some on a window ledge also upstairs. I've stripped the beds washed the bedding turned the mattresses swept and hoovered. Any idea what it could be?

@kaththomas700

could be a vole not sure of spelling buy sounds like a rodent anyway .  i get mice now an again and have always used what the Bulgarians call a bourbon ? its a large blue pellet about the size of a large fourer mable.  im sure you know it :)  anyway it kills them and they go outside to die

philip Mckay

never had one die inside coz they stink if they do.  its blue in colour by the way not round but oval

kaththomas700

Thank you hopefully it won't be a vole, we had mice in the basement used traps and blocked the holes up from where the petcka was . Husband wanted to take them away and let them go but I knew that I heyd just make their way back so I got rid of them. Thank you again and I'll get husband to download a picture of a vole and hopefully it's droppings.

Vole droppings look very similar to mouse feces, but are greenish or grayish in colour.

This looks like a very good picture to keep I think

kaththomas700

Thank you. I will keep this picture the poo was small and black but looked to be very dry or old. Heaven knows how it got upstairs, we did have mice like I said but they were downstairs.

mice get in any where and go all over the place rats dont they go A to B AND  B to A hope you get sorted

kaththomas700

Oh dear I hope that we're not going through that again.  As I said nothing down stairs in the kitchen. Fingers crossed that they've moved on.

And they can squeeze through the smallest of holes.

kaththomas700

Yes I'm aware of their ability squeeze though tiny holes but it's where we've found the poo which is a puzzle, such as actually in the beds without making a mess of them so you don't know that it's in there. Now I've never known a mouse who could squeeze between a mattress and the lats. Ah well it all looked very old so we'll see.

@kaththomas700 Maybe a shrew or vole?

kaththomas700

Well good morning everyone, I'm still in bed listening to husband snore but I've not heard anything other than that and haven't spotted any more poo as yet. Fingers crossed

Hey Kath,

All sounds good. Did your hubby take any photos of the "poo"??

kaththomas700

Yes but I don't know how to post the picture on here, I'll try again but husband is on his way back to the UK to look after his mum.

I'll have another try

kaththomas700

I've managed to upload a picture to the dedicated picture area of this forum.

kaththomas700

Well I believe that I'd posted it under the community section I'd named it poo pictures but all I can see on the Bulgarian section are touristy not poo

kaththomas700

Well my poo photo was rejected by this site sorry.

But I've had another thought, could the poo be gecko poo?  Would that explain why the poo was inside the bed underneath the duvet on the bottom sheet rather than on top of the made up beds?

kaththomas700

I have seen a gecko upstairs a couple of years ago and as they're staying out of my way I think that they've stopped sub letting the bedrooms to friends and family and have moved out for the summer and as Ill be living here full time from the end of the month hopefully they'll not be back.

Gecko poop usually takes a cylindrical shape and is about 0.5 inches in length. Healthy poop is typically brown, but when it is passed out with urates, it would have some white color on it (that is because urates are white in color). Also, this reptile's excreta has a solid texture.

kaththomas700

Although I've not seen any white bits I think that because the poo seemed so old I may have missed them.  The geckos here are small not the bigger ones.

Just had a mega thunderstorm here and the electric is off but it's still very warm.

kaththomas700

Someone suggested that by living in the house the mystery poo ers would move on. Well I think that the noise from the Roma wedding hall from across the lane is doing the job for me.

janemulberry

Maybe they could rent themselves out for pest control?

kaththomas700

It's an idea Jane.

We have cat poo (in trays) chez nous - that's the only kind anywhere in the house! 1f923.svg
