Permesso - illimitata- 10 year renewal

I didn't know I had to update my permesso illimita- periodo lungo, every 10 years, so I should have done it in 2022.. since I need to leave in a few weeks, I don't want to do it now and then not be available to pick it up, or not be available for an appointment, has anyone tried to renew their unlimited permesso like 2 years later ? Want to see if I can do it next year.. I should be able to travel with the "old" one since it doesn't have an expire date written on it. And even if it was supposed to expire in 2022, I still managed to pass through customs in Germany with it July 2023? I really need to leave, return next year and do the aggiornamento.

I’ve returned to ghana from italy over 10 years and we were coming back to stay in italy. unfortunately we were not allowed to come because our sorgionnos pictures were not matching with our faces because we had it when we were minors. and it is an illimitata sorgionno . what do we do then?

Reapply to the immigration authorities. However, if you've been out of country that long, your permit (and right of residence) will have been forfeited. You will start over from zero.
